WB 4898: Introduction to Global Electronic Commerce
Summer 2000

American Graduate School of International Management

The digital economy is reshaping the way we do business. The convergence of computer and communication technologies has led to the integration of data, voice, graphics, and video into a seamless digital World-Wide Web (WWW) which promises to undermine many organizational strategies and create new market structures. Firms need to stake a unique electronic commerce position today or lose market share to nimble competitors tomorrow. In the brave new world of electronic commerce, managers that do not understand how to integrate information technology innovations with new forms of organizing to develop an effective e-business strategy are at a risk of being "Amazoned" by their competitors. This course will provide both the strategic and technical essentials of what a manager needs to know in order to manage and lead an electronic commerce initiative.
